Hot / Cold (Regulation Loop)
my core temperature — Menopausal deregulation / Realization
I’m still in the house.
No dip — just this strange temperature split.
Hot
and cold at the same time.
Hands
freezing.
Inside my stomach: cold.
Feet cold.
Ears cold.
Breast area hot — warm there.
Neck warm.
Everywhere else cold.
Hot and cold at once.
I lift my hair up, then down,
cool my neck.
Armpits uncovered to let the steam out —
that’s usually where the heat lives —
but today I’m hot and I’m cold.
My nose is running.
My hands are freezing.
My core is on fire.
How
do you manage a body
that can’t regulate its own temperature?
How do you plan?
Order?
Do?
How do you get to your tasks
when your body keeps switching
cold / hot / fight / fly?
My
lower back is freezing —
kidney area cold.
My legs and crotch are warm.
My calves feel normal — t
he only part that feels “just right.”
My
fingertips are freezing.
My cheeks are warm.
The tip of my nose is cold.
From the tip to the toes
every part is a different temperature.
Warm
core.
Cold edges.
Running nose.
Frozen hands.
Warm chest.
Cold back.
Warm neck.
Cold throat.
I
am all of these things at once.
