Where Love Divides and Multiplies
(poem version)
Some families split,
and the adults circle the child/children
like a ring of roses,
quietly counting
who is doing enough,
who has done enough,
who is there enough.
Parent and Child Dance
But the child —
the child just stands in the middle,
open‑armed,
receiving.
love
love
love
moving forward in the world
Confidently
held on every side,
never having to choose.
Footnote - Four generations of split parenting - written about/ from my experience, but I would be the third generation beginnings for my future family. (yet I've only now just remembered my mum was also from divorce) 1950's
