This poem is my reaction to my blog post “This Makes Me Happy,” where I unpacked auditory processing difficulties, working‑memory overload, and my visual learning dominance. Once I wrote the clinical truth, the emotional truth followed — this is that truth.

Reaction to the Happiness Quote
Brightness, Rage, and Everything Between
Maybe
you saw my mask —
my brightness, (My clothes)
my charisma,
my uniqueness.
Maybe
you saw
my sharp tongue —
my anger,
my frustration,
my rage.
Maybe my silence.
Maybe my million words (verbal spew).
Maybe a blunt swear .
Maybe a Loud character.
But what you would have heard or seen
is this — the real me.
The hidden me.
The me behind the mask.
ND means distracted by kindness and sharp with demolition.
Defense.
Bear.
Rise up.
Shadow self.
Words with dyslexia —
the power of the right word.
I’m word obsessed.
These words are my lottery win,
my gold dust, my everything.
I have the words.
I don’t need the mask.
