Sit and Sip
Morning
Coffee Contemplating
As I sit and drink my coffee,
I
contemplate my life as the waves wash over me.
The
decisions I’ve made—
A rush from one thing to the next.
The
minutes,
The hours,
The months,
The years,
The
decades—
They’ve all merged. And as I sit and drink my
coffee,
I feel the waves wash away the heaviness,
Just like a
sandcastle—
A sturdy structure you build on the beach
In that
moment, on that beautiful day.
Then the sea comes in, and the tide
just washes it away.
You’re left with the contemplation:
Did
you do the right thing?
Did you say the right thing?
Were you
the right thing?
Was it the right thing?
And as I sip my
coffee, the waves wash over me—
I feel okay today.
